Soccer and Girls - Women

By Yuri Mihaylov

Why should your daughter be practicing soccer? What is developed?
Personality, fitness, strength, coordination, social skills, discipline, and ambition are all developed.
What should you know about soccer?
What is the difference between soccer and the other sports played in the USA?
Why is it so popular?
It is the most popular sport in Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Africa, but nobody knows why. There are thousands and thousands of surveys, statistics, and theories. All kinds of scientists and sociologists have tried to explain the phenomenon of the collective craziness known as soccer.
But yet, there is no real, logical explanation why so many people from different walks of life, genders, religions, ages, and cultures are involved in this game.
There are national soccer teams and club soccer teams at amateur and professional levels. We have school and university soccer teams, too. Don't forget backstreet and neighbor hood teams, and teams for men, women, boys and girls.
We have tournaments, cups and leagues. Millions of people around the globe are playing or are interested in soccer.
And not only that, but it is a billion dollar industry.
TV shows, magazines, websites, books, souvenirs and equipment are connected with soccer.
There is an old English saying, "Soccer is a game, played by peasants and watched by gentlemen; rugby is a game played by gentlemen and watched by peasants".
Well, that was a hundred years ago. Today things have changed dramatically.
Some may be familiar with girls playing soccer and female coaches guiding their stars through this sport, while others are amazed by this fact.
Yes, girls play soccer too! Girls, just like boys run, pass, dribble, score, and play the game of soccer with ease and enjoyment. Girl soccer players also know the tactics on the soccer filed, just like the different kinds of passes, receiving techniques, goal and goal-keeping techniques. They also run around, train hard, and practice to have a good game on the field. And at the back of all this, is often a female soccer coach. Now, that is not supposed to surprise you because if there are girl soccer players, you can expect that there will be female coaches too!
So, if you really love this sport and soccer is really in your blood, practice and practice more. For who knows... you can be the next Mia Hamm!
